Which cover do you like best?
Help me pick the coolest Apocalypse Will Still Have Coffee design
Part of the fun of writing a book is getting cover art done. I’ve worked with some incredible artists and designers over the years to add an extra element to my novels.
This time, I need your help picking which cover you like best. Which one would you pick up off a shelf? Here’s a quick poll to put in your vote…
The winner will end up as the cover of the paperback, as well as go on the eBook file. Here’s a look at each of them individually.
All cover designs are by Rebeca Ira. The above is the first one I had done for Substack.
The skull coffee cup was drawn by Caroline Solbakken (@her.artchive on Insta). She’s an epic tattoo artist from Norway, based on the Gold Coast in Australia.
Barista Robot was done by Katarina Belikova (@ninjajo_art on Insta). Katarina is a Ukrainian artist who I first touched base with to do some art of Thrill Switch. At the time, she wasn’t able to take the commission because of the Russian invasion of her home country. Happily, she’s safe and we got to work together this time around.

I love all three, but if I really have to choose, the barista robot captures the apocalyptic and bleak atmosphere best! I mean, I'd have it as a poster to hang to be honest!
All three are excellent. I personally like the graffiti one the most because it represents the vibe of the story best. But I voted for the skull. It's simplistic enough, and not color- and detail-dependent (unlike the other two) to work as a thumbnail and in monochrome e-reader situations. It's something that will catch eyes on an endless list of other thumbnails. And, mark my word, if AWSHC gains traction, folks will want the skull cup as a tattoo.
